State of South Carolina - South Carolina State Flag Color
Flag Meaning: In 1775, a flag was designed for use by the troops. The blue field and white crescent were selected because SC state troops wore blue uniforms with white crescents when the flag was adopted. The flag was first adopted in 1861. The white palmetto was added to the center of the flag after the battle on Sullivan's Island.
