About Armed Forces Day

The 3rd Saturday in May is celebrated in the United States as Armed Forces Day to honor Americans serving in all divisions of the military. Previous to the establishment of Armed Forces Day, there were separate days to celebrate the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Armed Forces Week begins on the second Saturday of May and ends on the third Sunday of May. National Guard and Reserve units may celebrate Armed Forces Day/Week over any period in May because of their unique training schedules.
