A Christmas holiday isn't complete without this old time favorite of kids. A fun cookie to make with the little ones. They can peel the candy kisses and insert them for the last step.
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 small bags of candy kisses
Cream sugars, shortening, peanut butter, vanilla and eggs. Set aside. Mix dry ingredients. Combine dry ingredients a little at a time while adding small amounts of milk to mixture. This part takes alot of stirring - mixture should be stiff when complete. Shape dough into 1" balls. Roll in sugar.
Bake 8 minutes at 375 degrees.
Remove from oven and quickly squish a candy kiss in center of cookies. Put back in oven for an additional 3 minutes. Let cool.
