Johnny Cake Recipe

Recipe: Johnny Cake

Ingredients:

3/4 cup corn meal
3/4 cup flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted butter

Preparation:

Sift cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt together. Add milk gradually, well beaten egg and melted butter. Grease shallow pan, heat slightly, pour in mixture and bake twenty minutes in hot oven.

Bake in a greased 8-inch square pan at 400°F. for 15 to 20 minutes.
