Pauline, a sensitive hen, has a hard time concentrating in all the confusion of the henhouse. Her eggs, when they do appear, are assorted designs and colors, influenced by the objects she has just seen. The farm's owner, trying to produce eggs for Eastertime, begins "taking Pauline on field trips for inspiration." Before the designer eggs could be sold, they started to hatch into multi-colored chicks that match their shells. The chicks grow up to lay vibrant color eggs too. The illustrations are large colorful cartoon-like drawings that children will enjoy.
