Dad's Wake up Call Breakfast Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 1/3 C of boxed baking mix
1/2 C of milk
3 tbsp maple syrup
3 tbsp butter or margarine, melted
1 (8 oz.) pkg. frozen sausage patties
3 slices of American cheese cut in half diagonally
Preparation:
Preset the oven temperature to 425 degrees allowing the oven to preheat.
Place the baking mix into a mixing bowl.
Pour the milk and maple syrup into the bowl.
Add the butter and stir until the ingredients form soft but sticky dough.
Sprinkle a flat work space with a small amount of flour.
Roll the dough through the flour to lightly coat then form the dough into a ball.
Sprinkle a little more flour if needed then knead the dough with your hands 10 times.
Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out the biscuits with a 3 inch cookie cutter.
Place the biscuit dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 12 minutes or until the biscuits turn a golden brown.
Cook the sausage patties as directed on the package and drain well on paper towel.
Cut the warm biscuits in half.
Place a sausage patty and a piece of cut cheese onto each biscuit bottom.
Cover with the top of each biscuit and maple syrup if you desire.
