First Car
by Roger J. Robicheau
Most memories in time will drift
Yet I have one that brings a lift
So vivid stays the way it looked
My first car owned, I was so hooked
That gripping feel behind the wheel
Put me on top, life snatched ideal
Although it was not close to new
I felt great pride, Boy! was that true
My Catalina red and white
That fifty-nine, was out of sight
I guess that love which quickly grew
Was independence breaking through
To ease behind that wheel again
Won’t ever happen, life won’t bend
But oh that thought, is all I need
To take me back, I did succeed
