2000 Bush is named the President elect after the U.S. Supreme Court stops the recount of votes in several contested counties in Florida. Though final vote results were inconclusive, Al Gore concedes the election to George Bush.
2001 George W. Bush in inaugurated as the 43rd President of the United States.
2001 Bush reinstates the ban on aid to international groups performing or conseling on abortion.
2001 President Bush creates the Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
2001 U.S. airplanes attach Iraqi radar sites to enforce a "no-fly zone."
2001 A comprehensive review of the 2000 presidential election recount shows that President Bush would have won Florida by 1665 votes.
