- Madison graduated in only two years from the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University).

- Madison helped write the Constitution that became law in March 1789. He was considered "The Father of the Constitution."

- Madison declared war on Britain in 1812.

- During the time of the Continental Congress, Madison was afraid that wrong people might read his letters. He used a secret code when he wrote to Thomas Jefferson and other friends.

- James Madison was the smallest president. He was only 5 feet 4 inches and weighed less than 100 pounds.
