Other Interesting Facts and Trivia:

- Tyler was born on a tobacco plantation.

- Tyler had more children than any other president. He had 15 children and his last child was born when he was 70 years old.

- Tyler was vice president to President William Henry Harrison who caught cold during his inauguration speech and died a month later (April 4, 1841). Harrison was the first president to die in office and the Constitution was tested as to what happened next. Tyler took the oath of office in April 1841.

- As president, Tyler's proslavery policies angered abolitionists.

- The Civil War began 16 years after Tyler left office.

- Julia Tyler, started the tradition of playing "Hail to the Chief" when the president arrives at gatherings.
