1880 (Oct. 27) Married Alice Hathaway Lee.
1882-1884 Served in the New York state assembly.
1884 Daughter Alice Lee Roosevelt was born.
1884 (Feb. 14) Mrs. Alice Roosevelt died.
1886 (Dec. 2) Married Edith Kermit Carow.
1887 Son Theodore Roosevelt was born.
1889 Son Kermit Roosevelt was born.
1889 Appointed to the U.S. Civil Service Commission.
1891 Daughter Ethel Roosevelt was born.
1894 Son Archibald Bulloch Roosevelt was born.
1897 Son Quentin Roosevelt was born.
1897 Named Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
1898 Led the Rough Riders in the Spanish-American War.
1899 Elected governor of New York.
