That's What Leprechauns Do by Eve Bunting, Emily Arnold McCully (Illustrator)
As a storm brews over a sky in Ireland, the wee folk set out to perform their job of placing a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. There's "no time for mischief along the way," warns one of the leprechauns, however, they can't help but play some pranks along the way. Why? Because that's what leprechauns do! They paint Mrs. Ballybunion's cow's hooves a bright red, tie Old Jamie Bradleys drying long johns into a knot, and plant a tennis ball in the nest of Miss Maudie Murphys hen. At last, as the rain begins to fall, and the the playful wee folk reach Padddywhackers Bog, they dig up their treasure, and set it in place. The rainbow arches across the sky to touch the pot of gold. Will anyone discover what lies at the end of the rainbow?
