The King of Ireland's Son by Brendan Behan, P. J. Lynch (Illustrator)
The King of Ireland sends out his three sons to find the source of heavenly music that he hears throughout the country. The brothers notice that the sound was coming from a hole in the ground. Two of the brothers, Neart and Ceart, decide to lower their brother Art down into the hole in hopes of getting rid of him. Art is guided by three generations of older men through a tunnel. He finds a talking horse and the source of the music - an imprisoned singing princess playing a harp. To set the princess free, he needs to break the spell by defeating a giant in a game of hide and seek. With the help of his magical horse, he rescues the princess, returns to his father's castle where he inherits half the kingdom and marries the princess.
