The 34 stars clustered at the top of the seal, represent Kansas as the 34th state to join the Union. The state motto appears above the stars - "Ad Astra per Aspera", which is Latin for "To the Stars through Difficulties."The word "Kansas" appears below the seal. The flag was adopted in 1927. |
