Minnesota flagFlag Meaning: Pink and white lady's slippers surround the circular emblem that's centered in a field of blue. Three dates appear on the flag: 1819, 1858, and 1893. These represent the arrival of a military expedition to build Fort St. Anthony, the date of admission to the statehood, and the year the old state flag was adopted, respectively. There are 19 stars in the outer band of the emblem that represent Minnesota as being the 19th state to join the Union after the original 13 colonies - Minnesota was the 32nd state. The large star at the top of the emblem represents Minnesota - "The Star of the North." The flag was adopted in 1957.
