Flag Meaning: An eagle is centered on a field of blue and represents authority and power. The olive branch clutched in its talons symbolize peace and the arrows symbolize military protection. Thirteen stars are above the eagle's head and represent the original 13 colonies. The state's motto "One nation made up of many states" is displayed on the ribbon that is clenched by the eagle's beak. The flag was adopted in 1911. |
